How to Choose the Best Cat Window Perch

• You’ll need to measure your cat to make sure that the perch you’re buying is big enough.You’ll also need to check that your window is wide enough to be able to hold that size of perch, too.

• You’ll need to know your cat’s weight.
• Check out the different styles of perches before buying as they can vary. You’ll see some that attach halfway up the window and others that sit either close to the sill
  or directly on it.
• You can also get perches with more than one level and this may be useful if you have more than one cat.
• Some cat window perches are attached with suction cups and these are easy to use but they may damage very old, frosted or stained glass.
• You should think about what’s underneath the perch: can the cat climb up and jump down easily?  If there’s a radiator directly underneath the window, then what happens when it’s switched on and the cat wants to jump down?
• What kind of cushion or bedding comes with the perch or what can you add to make it comfortable?
• Older cats might need a little help getting up to the perch and this is when it can useful to put a chair or something they can climb or jump up to underneath.
• If you don’t know if a window perch is suitable for your window, you could buy a cat climbing tree instead and push that to the window. Cat trees often have a platform at the top which will do the same thing as a window perch.
• Cat perches shouldn’t be difficult to assemble or maintain. We’d recommend checking the product features before buying as well as reading verified product reviews from other customers to be sure what you’re buying is suitable for your pet and your home.
• Also, be aware that over time a suction cup may lose its…well…suck. This doesn’t mean the product is faulty but that you just need to wipe them down and reapply. This can happen periodically to perches that hang in the direct sunshine.
